Modern reality is characterized by the accelerated development of technology and the increasing complexity of social structures, which leads to an increased risk of extreme situations. Therefore, the need for high-quality training of employees of EMERCOM of Russia is becoming more and more obvious. Important characteristics of the degree of psychological readiness to perform official tasks are the locus of control, the professional identity of the employee and the coping strategies that the specialist uses in order to cope with professional stress. The use of optimal coping strategies for coping with stress, the presence of an internal locus of control, and a well-formed professional identity is the key to psychological readiness for successful independent professional activity of EMERCOM employees. The article presents the results of a study of the features of professional identity, coping strategies and locus of control among cadets of the specialties Fire safety and Forensic examination of Saint-Petersburg university of State fire service of EMERCOM of Russia. The purpose of the study was to identify the features of professional identity, coping strategies and locus of control among fourth-year cadets of these specialties and a comparative analysis of the identified data. Thanks to the obtained research results, it is possible to predict the degree of psychological readiness of future firefighting specialists of various specialties to perform their professional tasks. Thanks to the data obtained, the authors have developed programs of preventive and correctional-developmental measures within the framework of psychological training of professional contingents of these specialties.
