The article examines the role of paramilitary mountain rescue units (MGSPS) as specialized emergency rescue units in the fire safety system at hazardous production facilities. The main activities of the HCV are analyzed: localization and extinguishing of underground fires, carrying out preventive work (depression surveys, ventilation monitoring, laboratory tests of mine air), as well as responding to emergency situations. Using the example of the accident at KMAruda Combine JSC (2024), systemic problems related to the inconsistency of accident response plans with mountain rescuers are shown, which led to numerous violations and administrative liability of officials. Additionally, the incidents at the Kalinovskaya Vostochnaya mine (2015, 2020) are considered, illustrating the high risks of methane ignition and the complexity of the operation of the HCV in conditions dangerous for gas and emissions.
