The article examines the main historical periods associated with the formation of the theoretical and methodological foundations of geopolitical science. Discusses in detail the specifics of the three stages in the development of geopolitics: classical, civilization, and global geopolitics. Within each geopolitical paradigm of science reveals the essence of epistemological models and methods of analysis in international relations.
