The article examines the system of reading as an entity including such components as context, agent and text. It also highlights the specific features of the information environment encompassing the main information sources and their users. The article is focused on the pragmatic reading skills as the most relevant ones for the analysis and interpretation of the information and text production. It outlines some of the strategies conducive to the development of productive communication skills.
