He article analyzes the features of using water curtains to protect from the thermal radiation from the fire of oil and gas complex objects. The structure of an integrated dialog system is described that includes a Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet and a macro family for Visual Basic for Applications that allows you to calculate the thickness of the water curtain and the required water flow based on a branched algorithm for calculating the thermal mode of an open fire at an oil and gas facility.
