The issue of compliance with fire safety requirements in buildings with mass stay of people, the feasibility of using life-saving tents in the organization of evacuation of people in fires and emergencies in low-rise buildings. It is proposed to use an experimental approach to determining the elastic properties of the awning through static deflection under the influence of human weight. The article provides analytical expressions of the velocity of the fall of man, the deflection of the membrane from the height and maximum drop height of the human body.
