CONSIDERATION OF GEOLOGICAL RISK WHEN CALCULATING SANITARY PROTECTION ZONES OF OIL BOILER STATIONS AS AN ELEMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY OF SAINT-PETERSBURG
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
In Saint-Petersburg, most boiler houses are located in residential areas and have tanks for storing fuel oil as the main or backup fuel, which requires measures to ensure environmental safety and prevent fuel oil from entering groundwater in the event of an accident. The work provides a critical analysis of the regulatory literature regulating the size of sanitary protection zones and methods for their calculation, which showed that data on the nature of the soil and the depth of the groundwater level are not taken into account in them. The results of studies are presented that prove that these parameters play a significant role in calculating the spread of a pollution spot in the groundwater of Saint-Petersburg and go beyond the normative limits. It is concluded that it is necessary to revise the current methodology for calculating sanitary protection zones, taking into account the geological features of the city in order to minimize risks to the life and health of the population and the environmental situation as a whole. For this purpose it is recommended to use the results of calculations based on multifactor mathematical models using modern software.
