Abstract (English):
The article reveals the peculiarities of the formation of ideas about colour in the culture of various peoples. It is emphasized that the colour scheme of modern man does not coincide with that of ancient cultures. It is noted that the leading role in the emergence of modern ideas about colour was played by practical human needs in the manufacture and application of colours. The article gives a brief overview of the history of such colour symbology as «black», «white», «red», «blue», etc.
