ABOUT THE DANGER OF GAS EXPLOSIONS IN CLOSED CONSTRUCTION VOLUMES

The article deals with issues related to gas explosions in limited construction volumes – apartments of residential buildings and gas-cylinder cars in underground parking lots and ground parking lots of a closed type. It is shown that the main damaging factor is an air shock wave, and in case of ignition – flame and thermal radiation. At the same time, the collapse of structures is possible and, as a result, a risk to people and great material damage. Measures are given to prevent or mitigate explosion hazards: the use of gas analyzers and ventilation systems, the use of easy-to-throw panels, protective tape curtains and strengthening of the ceilings of the room.
