A comprehensive analysis of one of the aspects of the safety of facilities of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation, the process of organizing and ensuring fire safety, has been carried out. The approaches of scientists to the problems of ensuring fire safety in penitentiary institutions, as well as ways to solve them, have been studied. The features and role of the element of fire safety of institutions and bodies of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation in the general system of penitentiary security are revealed. The official statistical data and cases of fires at facilities of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation in the first half of 2025 are analyzed. It is proposed to expand the practice of introducing modern information technologies into activities aimed at ensuring fire safety of facilities of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation. It is concluded that it is necessary to form and improve the skills of fire management among employees of the penal enforcement system of the Russian Federation.
