Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of the influence of changes in the operating mode of household electrical appliances on the state of wiring insulation, the damage of which can lead to fire hazards. Using simulation modeling in the Matlab environment based on heat balance equations, models of thermal processes in a conductor were developed. The resulting model allows for the investigation of temperature distribution both inside and on the surface of an insulated conductor. Based on the simulation results, changes in thermal characteristics are shown when varying the electrical load of household single-phase consumers under unbalanced conditions. The dependence of the time to reach a steady-state thermal regime on the ratio of heat dissipation on the conductor surface and the current ratio was obtained. It was established that when the duration of the current flow exceeds permissible values (20 seconds or more), there is a risk of thermal degradation of the insulation, which creates conditions for a short circuit and a subsequent fire.
