The article reveals the significance of one of the most productive interactive technologies – project-based learning. It also describes the potential of project-based learning as a tool to enhance the competence of the modern specialists. The article presents the principles underlying project-based learning in the higher education system. The strength features of the technology are analyzed in the article with regard to develop the young specialists’ soft skills in the digital age. The article contains sample classroom activities modelled according the guidelines of project-based learning in the framework of learning English as a second language in a non-linguistic university.
