SYSTEMATIZATION OF LEGISLATION IN THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE

Abstract:
This work is devoted to the study of the problems of conducting codification work in the Byzantine Empire. The purpose of this study is to identify the main stages of work on the systematization of legal acts of Byzantium at various stages of its development, as well as to study the mechanism of codification itself, the features of the methods used by Byzantine legal scholars to identify their most characteristic patterns. When writing the work, various general scientific and special legal research methods were used, including analysis and synthesis, legal formalization, and others. The work is based on the principle of historicism, and the legal phenomena studied are examined in the context of their historical era. The study concluded that the Byzantine Empire had a high level of legal culture, and that Byzantine legal scholars used systematic and professional approaches.
