Abstract (English):
Earthquakes continue to be a significant threat to many countries. A person does not have the ability to control the process and accurately predict the place and time of the next earthquake. Consequently, there is a need to take early measures to reduce the possible consequences of earthquakes. Public authorities should proactively carry out measures in earthquake-prone areas in order to reduce the consequences of earthquakes. The article analyzes the main causes of earthquakes, identifies earthquake-prone regions on the territory of the Russian Federation. Regulatory documents are analyzed, practical recommendations aimed at reducing possible damage from earthquakes are substantiated.
