The article presents an analysis of the legal status of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry in the context of the administrative, functional and social approaches. Disclosed elements of legal status in relation to the competence of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. It determines the significance of the legal status of public authority in the system of executive power.
