Features of various kinds of classical mathematical models for an assessment of development of burning of cars are considered. Their merits and demerits are noted. Except use of classical mathematical models, it is shown that exist the alternative approach to research of fire safety - stochastic or likelihood methods of the description of processes. The example illustrating possibilities of the analysis of development of a fire in the car about the help of final Markov chains is given.
