In the article the analysis of the experimental study of adaptation of students in the initial training period. Identified psychological predictors of successful adaptation to the educational environment. In the study, given the adaptive abilities of the students was evaluated through an assessment of the level of development of psychological characteristics that are most important for the regulation of human mental activity. According to the results of the conducted research it was established that a correlation exists between the level of adaptive abilities of students and cognitive mental processes (memory, attention, thinking, etc.).
