This article examines an approach to developing specialized unmanned aerial system configurations for fire reconnaissance missions. Based on an analysis of fire statistics in the Russian Federation, regulatory requirements for reconnaissance, and limitations of typical of unmanned aerial system payloads, three priority fire categories are identified: landscape fires, residential building fires, and industrial fires. A comparative analysis of promising payload technologies is conducted, including a SLM lidar, a hyperspectral camera, a gimbal with a communications repeater, and a radar detector. The applicability conditions for fire reconnaissance missions for these technologies are determined. Based on the study's results, three specialized of unmanned aerial system configurations – City, Nature, and Technogenic – are developed, tailored to various operational scenarios. It is demonstrated that this approach to platform and payload selection allows for a more comprehensive consideration of the nature of the fire, reconnaissance conditions, and the composition of the required information.
