Abstract:
Centrifugal fire pumps are the main equipment of fire vehicles and require a reliable vacuum system to ensure rapid water intake from open water sources. The efficiency of the pump directly depends on the characteristics of the applied vacuum system. The paper presents data on the selection of the most preferred type of vacuum pump to ensure rapid filling of the centrifugal fire pump with water before the start of extinguishing. The correct choice of vacuum system allows minimizing the time of pump preparation for operation and ensuring its reliable functioning when taking water from reservoirs. In this regard, there is a need to conduct a comparative assessment of existing types of vacuum pumps according to their technical and operational parameters. For this purpose, a hierarchical structure of multi-criteria assessment has been built, with the help of which the most preferred type of vacuum pump is determined. Recommendations are proposed for further improvement of vacuum systems of centrifugal fire pumps.
