Key aspects of the new phenomenon in the IT industry of the current decade, which has been rapidly developing around the world - the blockchain technology are highlighted. Conceptual principles underlying the new technology are analyzed. The value of blockchain as a new type of formation and storage of databases is disclosed. Various examples of using a distributed registry of data that have already found their practical implementation are given, emphasis has been placed on further possible uses of the blockchain in the foreseeable future.
